It is a pretty well known fact that our food supply is killing us.
Because of the Monosanto business model of genetically modifying our foods and then with the addition of foods created by chemistry rather than nature finding real organically grown, non gmo products is getting significantly more difficult to procure.
Let’s take a look at whether the GMO/Monosanto business models are sustainable farming practices…

What is the GMO/Monosanto business model?
At the very basic level it is the engineering of fruits, grains and vegetables to withstand the application of roundup – a very dangerous combination of poisons that in the natural would also kill the food crops that it is sprayed on.
Not sure if you remember a long time ago now, but pelicans almost became extinct from DDT that was sprayed on fields as a method of weed control…
Read this essay written back in the 80’s that covers the impact of pesticides on birds specifically and the food chain indirectly. One might think that going to your local grocery store or even to your farmer’s market would be a safe place to purchase your products, really it is not!
GMO’s are so prevalent that virtually everything you eat has been tainted in one way or another by them. While reading this article about the top 20 foods and products that have been genetically modified it started to occur to me that even animals that are feed these products are infected with genetically modified DNA as well as wondering what the poison levels were.
1. Cоttоn Seeds Almоѕt hаlf of соttоnѕ grоwn іn thе world hаvе bееn gеnеtісаllу mоdіfіеd tо rеѕіѕt реѕtѕ and pesticides. Before long, Hubbard had 20 people happily peeing into cups. As he started gathering results on their samples—taken before, during, and after the detox regimens—he noticed an odd pattern: Several people registered high in thallium and cesium, two heavy metals generally not on anyone’s radar. “At first, I just thought, ‘Oh, another one of those. By the third or fourth, I started scratching my head.”
As the tests progressed, the detoxification regimens seemed to prove effective (and with no side-effects), but thallium kept showing up. Then, in July of 2014, he stumbled on a 2006 study out of the Czech Republic showing how the “cruciferous” family of vegetables behave as “hyperaccumulators” of thallium. Crucifers include many of our more intense green vegetables such as kale, cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, mustard and collard greens. These are also the vegetables often touted—and consumed—most heavily these days, supposedly for their outsized health benefits. [read this whole article here]
My next question was what is in RoundUp that makes is so insidious?
Ingrеdіеntѕ in RоundUр
RoundUp Herbicide by Monsanto contains the following ingredients:

If this isn’t bad enough even more deadly chemical will have to be added to Roundup as weeds adapt to this toxin that we are ingesting because it is sprayed on the foods we eat and eaten by the animals we consume further concentrating the toxins in our body.
Even More Deadly Chemicals to enter our Food Supply:
A recent article written by Dr. Jonathan Latham of the Bioscience Resource Project looks at the future of GMOs and argues that GMOs will become more unpopular as the technology takes them in a dramatically more toxic direction. He points to the recent approval of crops resistant to the herbicides 2,4-D and Dicamba. The reason they need to resist these toxic sprays is because the overuse of Monsanto’s herbicide Roundup is actually breeding Roundup-resistant “superweeds” that require more and more toxic chemicals to kill. Here’s how it works:
- Monsanto creates the herbicide Roundup. Unfortunately, it sometimes kills the crops along with the weeds.
- Monsanto creates “Roundup-ready” crops that can withstand the toxic spray, which allows farmers to use even more Roundup to kill all the weeds.
- Weeds increasingly become resistant to Roundup, becoming “superweeds” that require more toxic chemicals to kill them.
- The biotech industry creates new crops that are resistant to other herbicides.
- Inevitably, the weeds will become resistant to these new herbicides as well—a vicious cycle that threatens both our environment and our food supply.
The whole biotech industry is involved, introducing crops that are resistant to multiple herbicides. Monsanto’s Xtend line of products will be resistant to Roundup and Dicamba; Dow’s Enlist products will be resistant to Roundup and 2,4-D. We have discussed 2,4-D in earlier articles and readers will recall that it is an ingredient in what used to be called Agent Orange when used in the Vietnam War. [read the complete article here]
The bottom line is emphatically NO! To the question, “are sustainable farming practices and the GMO/Monsanto business model compatible?”
What can we do as consumers to mitigate some of the effects of having to ingest what is put out in our food supply? We at New Path Nutrition suggest that one incorporate Purium products, which are created from a non gmo, organic, farm to table philosophy. While it is probably not realistic to think that we can avoid all of the chemicals foisted on us by the FDA, now more than any other time in history we need to be close attention to what we chose to put into our bodies.
